Latest Updates

6 Months - 4/15 ~ 5/14/04

Charlie got groomed again at Petsmart. This time they put a red bow in his hair. He always looks so cute right after he's groomed. Charlie is still waking me up early in the morning, but takes a lot more naps during the day. He loves getting his tummy rubbed. We walked in the Capitola Dog Parade where he dressed up as a hula boy. He got to show off some of his tricks at the Parade. He also got microchipped there for free by SPCA. They were so nice and gentle to him. He was such a brave boy. He got neutered and one of his puppy teeth extracted. He was fine after surgery and back to his normal sweet self by the next day.

5 Months - 3/15 ~ 4/14/04

I finally moved into my first house. Charlie seems extremely adaptable to new living arrangements. This is our 3rd move in less than 3 months and it doesn't seem to phase him!!! Charlie loves the extra space in the new house. He has more room to do his crazy 5 minutes lapses. He even gets his own room - well the laundry room to be exact! It's right down the hall from my room, so he is still near me. He's finally started to enjoy eating. His food bowl is usually clean when I get home. He learned to play dead and beg standing up on his hind legs. He still can't go downstairs by himself. I started taking him to Doggie Daycare once a week. He seems to like it there. He gets very excited whenever we arrive. He started puppy classes and did great his first day.

4 Months - 2/15 ~ 3/14/04

I moved again to my Mom's house this month, just till I can move into my first house in March. Charlie was fine and had the run of the kitchen during the day. He was completely housebroken by then, which is a good thing for my Mom's sake! He learned to go upstairs, but not willing to come down yet. I've been trying to get him acquainted with my lovebird, Baby. They both seem to be curious but a little afraid of each other. He's very intrigued by the ducks and swans we see at the parks. His hair is growing fast and his colors are lightening up. He weighs about 7.5 lbs. Charlie got his rabies shot and was ready to start professional grooming. I took him to Petsmart and they did an excellent job. He looked so cute and fluffy with the blue bow in his hair!

3 Months - 1/15 ~ 2/14/04

I moved from the Los Gatos apt to the Campbell apt which accepted dogs. He adjusted well to the move and I was glad I no longer had to 'sneak' him around. At three months old, Charlie was almost housebroken. He was only making a few #2 accidents when he needed his 'privacy'. He learned to roll over and crawl. He picks up new tricks so quickly. He received all his shots so I've been taking him outside a lot more often. He's still not sleeping as much, and still a little picky about eating his food. His hair was getting longer, but still a little too short to tie up in a topknot.

  • Los Gatos Park - I took Charlie to a park near our old Los Gatos apartment. Here are more great action shots of him chasing after me.
  • Campbell Park - I had so much fun with Charlie at this park near our old Campbell apartment. It had big grassy hills for us to run around. There was also a trail in back where I took him walking for the first time. He walked so nicely on his leash, not really tugging a whole lot.

2 Months - 12/15/03 ~ 1/14/04

I picked up Charlie at the airport on December 13, 2003. I was very excited about getting my puppy. I was worried he might be traumatized from the flight and whether or not we would bond. At first glance it was love at first sight. I pulled him out from his crate and cradled him all the way home. We played hide n' seek his first night. He loves to find me! The first month at home was definitely the hardest for me because he was not housebroken. He was also teething a lot so he was always trying to nibble on our fingers. He didn't sleep much especially for such a young puppy. He didn't eat much either. Many times I had to feed him directly from my hand so I would know he got enough to eat. He learned to sit and shake in less than one day. He loves being dragged across the floor with a toy. He always wanted his tummy rubbed. He quickly learned to love his Sherpa bag, because a lot of times that meant going bye-bye with Mommy. He got his first set of shots and weighed in at a whooping 2.1 lbs. He didn't enjoy his second set of shots when the vet technician gave him bordatella up his nose. I brought him to work a few times and he was on his best behavior. Everyone just loved him!

  • First Portraits - I found a few props to use for Charlie's first photo shoot, including a sleigh for our Christmas card picture.
  • Cousin Rocky - Charlie was so excited when he met his Pug cousin, Rocky. Rocky was a good sport tolerating Charlie's puppy playfulness.
  • Almaden Lake Park - I took Charlie and Rocky to Almaden Lake Park. This was Charlie's first outing and he loved it. Here are some great action shots of Charlie chasing after me.
